Dishes pictured above - Stone Ground Grits, Chorizo Sandwich, (Beet) Soda, Goat Tacos, Mint
Cookie Sandwich, Angel Food Cake -

Now for part 2 of this post - THE FOOD !!

I had been to Maurepas Foods once before and was blown away. This lovely little Bywater spot specializes in locally grown organic foods and keeping things simple.

The menu might appear to be non-descriptive and boring but believe me, you will want one of everything. The goat tacos for example (yes, I said goat. Calm down) never in a million years would I have chosen that for lunch. But after hesitantly sampling one from my Dad I was hooked. You just have to try them. That's it.

Another one of my favorite things on the menu is......dessert!! (Shocking, I know.) There really are no words to describe how amazing the mint chocolate ice cream sandwich was. It's my favorite thing. It made me question why I had been eating any other kind of dessert at all. The flavors were fantastic, and don't get me started on the angel food cake. I can't even. Go try all of the foods, you'll thank me later.

A couple months back I ventured out into the Bywater to hear New Orleans based indie band, Mahayla play at Eucid Records.

After the show my sister/photographer and I decided to go on a mini adventure to a nearby park and we came across these gorgeous murals! I've been noticing this trend 1, 2, 3 (taking pictures in front of murals/graffiti walls) among some of the blogs I follow and have to say, I'm a huge fan.

Since basic neutral colors (black, white, grey, beige)  make up 90% of my wardrobe, I'm always looking for unique ways incorporate color into my outfits without wearing them. A few ways of the ways I've done so is by using very colorful/dramatic backdrops, jewelry, and nail colors.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of this post featuring some super fancy eats from Maurepas Foods !

Last Thursday was the MPAC ( Music, Art, People, Community) event hosted by 225 Magazine and inRegister Magazine in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the Shaw Center for the Arts.

The sold out event was held throughout all six stories of the Shaw Center and had everything from a photo-booth to a sushi restaurant on the roof. It was so much fun!! (Special thanks to my super-stylish friend who invited me, I had a blast!)

You can see all the pictures from the event [ here ]

The dress-code was all white with the choice of casual or cocktail attire. So naturally, I chose the more formal option and accessorized this little white dress with gold jewelry and a black envelope clutch and heels.
