Hey y'all! Today I teamed up with the loves at Camilyn Beth to give you some tips on dressing for a Military Graduation. My boyfriend graduates in about three days in South Carolina and I'm not gonna lie- finding a dress was starting to stress me out. No matter where I shopped or how many dresses I tried on, nothing felt right.

I wanted something classy (slightly conservative) and with a pop of color. I decided to shake up my usual all-black tendencies. I still wanted to feel cute and stylish without being uncomfortable or feeling like my look was '' too much ''. I love the patriotic detail this dress has and the fit is great too. I paired it with some over the knee boots and a black coat from Forever21.

My other favorites from Camilyn Beth are the Nanette, the Clara, and the Eloise dress.

Here are some tips for finding the perfect dress -

1. Leave your party dress at home.
Due to the fact that this is a family event and that most graduations are held during the day, you don't want to look like you just stepped out of the club. If it's super shiny, skin tight, low cut, or has cut outs - I'd save it for another event.

2. Dress for the weather.
Do a little research and find out what the weather is like before purchasing your dress. My dress is sleeveless but you may want something a little warmer. Most graduations are also held outdoors.

3. Simple Details.
Instead of making a part of your body the focal point of the look, focus on the details of your dress.
A great lace print, scalloped edge, or ruffled hem for example. You could even wear a fun pair of heels!

Hope these tips are helpful to you!

One of my favorite things to wear during the fall and winter months is a fringe jacket. They look great with just about anything from jeans and a t shirt to a dressy black jumpsuit.

My Vintage black leather one has been my first choice lately, but when The Impeccable Pig boutique in nola asked me to style a few looks on the blog - I was immediately drawn to this gorgeous suede one. It was so warm and I love it against the black blouse and white jeans. I keep things pretty neutral for fall so I like to add a little texture.

Hope y'all had a nice Thanksgiving! The Holidays are moving waaay too fast for me this year.

mad for plaid

Happy Thanksgiving week, y'all!! The fact that it's already this time of year already is crazy! (in a good way, of course) It's funny how the most stressful and hectic times of the year are the most enjoyable.

I've teamed up with The Impeccable Pig boutique here in New Orleans to style some fall outfits. The first look is pretty fool-proof, a great plaid button down and a pair of dark jeans. My fall wardrobe is always some vartiation of that. I'll layer with scarf or a leather jacket, tuck it into some flaired jeans, or even into a pencil skirt for work.

Finding a great plaid shirt can be tricky so I'm sharing a few tips I use when shopping for one -

1. Print
This may seem a little obvious, but finding the right print can be very important. If the plaid doesn't line up on the seams of the shirt, it tends to look cheap.

2. Material
When choosing any sort of plaid shirt, nine times out of ten they end up being flannel. While they're ideal for colder temps, make sure your garment is breathable. (anything 50% cotton and up is your friend) Also inspect the weight of the shirt and stay away from anything super thin.

3. Cut.
Another important thing to consider is the cut of your shirt. You may find one that fits all your requirements, but the buttons only just button. Or the sleeves are too tight. While trying it on make sure to test out the shirt's wardrobe options.

How does it look tucked into jeans? Can you cuff the sleeves? Is it too restricting/revealing when it's unbuttoned? Can you move freely when wearing a blazer?

Hopefully those tips will be helpful

#StyleCrush - Behati Prinsloo Levine

Talk about #wcw ! I've had a style-crush on Behati for quite some time now, and not just because she's married to the lead singer of my favorite band. But because of her quirky laid-back-rocker vibes and the effortless minimalism she brings to each of her looks. While many attempt to pull off similar looks, I've never seen anyone do it with as much personality as Behati.

Her style is mostly made up of jeans and Vintage rock band t shirts with a splash of boho. Her look for this year's VS show was (appropriately) named 'boho psychedelic'.
I especially love to see what she wears during formal/red carpet events. She gravitates towards minimalistic gowns with a basic shape and luxe texture and details. Like the navy velvet dress and black sequin fringe one above. And don't even get me started on her recent Tommy Hilfiger campaign.

better in black

If y'all follow along on insta you'll know my hashtag of choice - # allblack. I totally disagree with the stereotype that people who wear all black looks - a. all live in NYC (although that would be nice), b. are mean, and c. are boring! Not even close.

I gravitate towards darker colors simply because I think it gives you a sleeker appearance an well, they're my favorite. I'm also not that bold when it comes to head-to-toe color. I love gorgeous jewel tones and pastels, they're just not me.

I prefer accessorize with bold colors. Like a great LBD with bright red heel and rhinestone earrings or jeans and a white t shirt paired with a military green moto jacket as seen in my last post.  You can even use flowers like in today's post.

But nine times out of ten when I see a piece of clothing I like in a bright color I always think,
" that would look so much better in black!! "

For this week's Monday Mood Board post, I thought I'd share my own physical board with y'all.

I was putting together some looks to shoot for the blog this week and the thought hit me- "what would happen if I actually had a real mood board instead of  just pinterest?!" Creating this board was one of the best decisions I've made in a while and I highly recommend putting one together yourself (if you have the space). It's a great way to organize your thoughts/visions for a specific post or ongoing project. I also use my tumblr in a similar way.

#funfact -  The one of Gisele on the bottom left is the reason I grew out my bangs.

black bunny // halloween

Happy Halloween, y'all!

I've dressed up a couple times in the past, but this is the first time I've ever blogged about it. This look was so much fun to put together! I decided to use some items that were already in my closet (minus the ears).

The black romper has proved to be one of the most versatile pieces in my wardrobe. You can easily dress it up or down with minimal accessory changes. I've worn it with sandals during the summer, a cream colored cardigan and beige booties, and even with heels for a fancier look.

Finding the perfect one-piece can be tricky, but it you know what to look for.

1. Cut- It's very important to pay attention to the way the garment is cut. Make sure it's proportioned correctly to fit your body. I.e, if you're tall and long-torsoed like me, look for a longer style with a bit of give. Otherwise you'll end up being the victim of a terrible wedgie, if you know what I mean...

2. Quality - Choosing a higher end material will benefit for you in the long run. The garment will hold it's shape if you have it dry-cleaned.

3. Print - In addition to choosing a good material, pick a print or a solid neural color that will mix and pair well with other items in your wardrobe.

Hope these tips help! Enjoy your weekend.
